LOOPING
What the heck is looping ?
Looping is typically the duplication of part or all of one Master tape onto a Target tape, when complete the same portion of the Master Tape is played from beginning to end again whilst the Target tape continues to record from where it had finished the previous copy.
The result is a Target tape which appears to continuously play a copy of the Master tape over and over again, as if stuck in a loop !
Why the heck would I want a looping video ?
Looping videos are typically played by companies at exhibitions on large screen monitors, in order to promote themselves.
The original master video typically may be an advert that last for less than a minute, or a promotional show that last for half an hour. In either case if the original Master footage was being played then a member of staff would have to be present to rewind and restart the video every time the tape came to its end !
With a looping tape in the Video Player it can be left playing unattended for up to 5hours, apparently playing and rewinding the short video tape over and over, automatically.

SHOW REELS
What the heck is a Show Reel ?
A Show Reel is typically the duplication of several Master tapes onto one Target tape, so that the Target tape contains one copy of the first Master followed immediately by a copy of the second master, followed by a copy of the third master, and so on.
Show Reels are typically quite short, with several Master tapes edited to one Target tape, but can also be just a few long scenes taken from a few Masters.
Why the heck would I want a Show Reel ?
A Show Reel can also be described as being “a Curriculum Vitae on Video Tape” and hence is commonly used by anyone looking to promote themselves by displaying their past work, filmed on video cameras, to TV to potential employers.
Show Reels are mainly used by people in the media, such as Actors, Dancers, Music Artist and 3D Computer Artists.
